Condition Finder
Most veterans know about the injury or illness that made them file a claim in the first place. Far fewer realize how many other conditions might also qualify: conditions that developed slowly, that got written off as "just part of getting older," or that grew out of a first condition without anyone connecting the dots.
To get VA disability compensation, a condition generally needs to be service connected, meaning there's a link between your time in service and the condition you have now. That link can be direct (something happened in service and you still have it today), presumptive (certain conditions are assumed to be related to specific types of service, like exposure to burn pits or Agent Orange), or secondary (a condition caused or worsened by another condition that's already service connected). Knee pain from favoring an injured leg for twenty years, sleep apnea claimed as secondary to PTSD, or hypertension linked to a kidney condition are examples of connections that are easy to miss. Whether any one of them applies depends on the medical evidence in your case.
The Condition Finder is built to walk you through your service and your health, head to toe, and flag conditions worth a closer look, including ones you might not have thought to claim. It won't replace a medical or legal opinion, but it's meant to make sure nothing gets missed before you file.
